Socks and Things

Hello!
I'm in really good shape as far as Christmas gifts go, I'm actually almost done, and it's not even Thanksgiving yet! Yay!

So, I decided that in between Christmas gifts I'd make some non-gift things. I started out by making a pair of wool mittens. I love this pattern, it's so simple!

This wool is SO soft, I absolutely loved working with it! =) These are for my sisters and my etsy shop.

I also whipped up a few "fancy" place markers...I love using them. =)

I could not believe how fast they were to make! I had no beading experience at all so I didn't realize how quick a place marker could be to make.

I think this is my favorite one! =) I love green....

I had a lot of fun making them, then when I finished, I couldn't wait to use them for a project!

I love the more earthy tones these beads are.

A cute little heart.... =)

I really like the shape of this green bead,  it's so different!

And, the little butterfly =)

Lastly, I was very excited to make another pair of socks! The yarn for these was so much to work with, it has sparkles going throughout it. =) This is my first pair of ankle socks, I really like wearing them. I'd like to make some knee highs some day as well!

You can't really see the sparkles in the picture, but they're there! =)

The edging on these used a  stitch I had never heard of before, it is a reverse single crochet, I really like the looks of it though, it adds a ridged sort of look.

You may be able to see the sparkles a little better in this picture. =)

Well...I think that is all for now! I hope you all  very happy Thanksgiving! There are so many things that we have to thank the Lord for! =)
Have a wonderful day!

I had to add this....we had such a beautiful sunset today! God's creation is just so amazingly beautiful!

First Dusting of the Season

 Hello!
This morning was wonderful! I woke up to a rain/snow mix that slowly turned to snow only. It was flurrying for a little while and we had a beautiful dusting all over the ground and trees, it was so exciting! The first dusting of the season always makes me really happy and I love to go for a walk to enjoy how pretty everything looks all dusted in the snow.

The holly berries look especially pretty, the vibrant red with a white and green is so beautiful!

Evergreens in the snow....SO beautiful!

I so enjoyed walking along the pretty snow covered path, it was chilly but it's worth being cold to enjoy the snow we got!

I love when we get flurries before all of the leaves have dropped, the way the autumn leaves look in the snow is amazing!

I can't wait until we have a "real" snow, I want this pretty path to be completely covered in at least a foot of snow! =)

Today was such a good crocheting day, with the little bit of snow on the ground it made the whole house feel cozy...it was so nice! I could have crocheted and drank coffee all day long. The little birdies were flying around and eating the from the feeder, just looking outside at them made me smile! They didn't let me get a picture of them though.

The snow didn't last a very long time, only a few hours, but it was better than nothing....to get anything before Thanksgiving is always nice!

The evergreens mixed with some red berries, (not edible, of course haha), were so fun to look at, I can't get over how pretty everything looks when it snows!

I've been doing good getting Christmas stuff crocheted up, and I finished making all the things for the swap I'm doing and got that sent out! I hope to post on that soon....I have a lot of things I'd like to post, but most will have to wait until AFTER Christmas! =) Have a great day!

Lots of Crocheting

Hello!
I can't believe it has already been nearly a month since my last post, October flew by! I've crocheted many things since last time I posted, my sisters and I have been working hard to get our Etsy shop filled up, and by doing so, we had two sales in the month of October, Praise the Lord! We're really praying that as Christmas approaches, the Lord will bless us with some more orders.  From now until Christmas I don't think I'll be blogging often, due to the fact that most of the things I'm making right now are Christmas gifts! =) I can post the non-gifts though....

Several months ago a friend of mine made a couple of the most ADORABLE tape measure covers for her retractable tape measures, and I finally decided I'd make few as well....I think they are some of the cutest little things ever! =)

Here's a little cake, it looks scrumptious doesn't it? By pushing on the cherry on top of the cake, the tape measure slips back in....I love playing with it, it's fun!

This is a chocolate chip cookie, these covers are so much fun to make and they go super quick!

You can do so many different variations, this is a cinnamon roll....you obviously don't have to do a food, but I really like the idea of my tape measure looking like food...specifically dessert! =)

I also made a couple of scissor fobs using size 10 crochet thread and seed beads, they went quick as well and I really love the looks of them!

This first one I made is my personal favorite, I love the color!

I love this color thread combined with the red colored beads, it looks old! =)

The aqua colored one is much brighter than the colors I generally use, so it was a nice change of pace! I really enjoyed making them!

I think my least favorite part of making these was putting the beads on them, although it adds so much to it...I used clear beads for this one, it adds a little sparkle to it.

'

Lastly, I crocheted a teddy bear....he's so cute, I love his little bow tie. At first when I started working on him I didn't think I was going to enjoy it...but after a couple of hours I had fun with him! His face is so sweet... it was my moms idea to give him some eyebrows....I'm so glad I did because it added a lot to his face!

I found this pattern in a book I have called "Cute and Easy Crochet" by Nicki Trench... This book has so many WONDERFUL ideas...I'll be making many more things that are in this book!

So this is SOME of what I did in October, not all of what I did, but, like I said, I've been working on Christmas stuff and upcoming birthday things.  I am doing a swap on Ravelry and also did some spinning on my drop spindle that I'd like to post about! Speaking of my drop spindle... I almost forgot to tell you....we recently were blessed with a spinning wheel...it needs some parts, but we'll them hopefully soon! =) Our pastor picked it up for us at a yard sale and I think paid about $9, which is CRAZY cheap! Praise God! We're all super excited and can't wait to get it up and running! =D Anyway... I hope to post again soon!
Have a wonderful day!
