Snowy Day =D

Hello!
It was such a beautiful day today! It started snowing around 9am and came down pretty hard all day, it's still coming down right now, just a little slower.
I loved watching the snow from the window, and enjoyed going for a walk in it even more! =)

The pictures that I took really don't do the snow justice, we got around 3-4 inches throughout the day, so it was a really nice coating of white.

In this picture the snow was coming down pretty hard, it was like this for most of the day.

The trees looks gorgeous covered in white, I love snow!

Whenever it snows it seems so still and peaceful....it's amazing!

Within twenty minutes or so of it snowing the stone wall near our house was already nearly covered, which got me excited for what was to come.

Towards the end of daylight the snow slowed down a little and you could really see just how covered everything was.

Today was such a good day for coffee, popcorn, crocheting, and baking, all of which I had or did....such fun! =D I worked on my shawl...which I would really LOVE to have done by Christmas Eve. We'll see though. The yarn I bought is lace weight, it's so wonderful! I got it from knitpicks and it's 70% baby alpaca and 30% silk.....I can't get over how much I love this yarn! The color is just so beautiful and it feels amazing to work with it! =D I'll definitely post pictures of my shawl when I finish it!

I love the way our house looks this year, all decorated for Christmas...and in the snow =)

That's all for now! Have a great day!

Christmas Decorating

Hello!
It's officially advent! Such a special time of year to celebrate the coming of and birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There are so many different ways to celebrate, one of my favorite ways to do so is to go crazy decorating the house!

The day after Thanksgiving we go to Oakwood Christmas Tree Farm, pick out, and cut down our tree, it's always so much fun!
This year we decided to get a tall, narrow tree....it was a little too tall and ended up hitting the ceiling, nothing a little trimming couldn't fix though! =)

Our tree was still all bound up in this picture....it smells so nice!
Here is our tree, beautifully decorated! I always love the way our tree looks! Each year my family decorates our tree together while listening to Christmas music, it's always so fun.

My sisters and I are sharing a room now, so we went crazy decorating our room together, we each had our own decorations, which meant that we had plenty of things to make the upstairs look like a Christmas Wonderland! Yay! =D

Entering the upstairs....

At the top of the stairs is my tree, and PART of my older sister's village collection, which is absolutely GORGEOUS! =) (This is the only picture of it I got though.)

This is my little village, it's so cute!

This is my little sister's tree, it looks so nice at the end of her bed!

In this picture, to the left, is my desk, I really LOVE the way it looks in the opened closet!

The whole reason for Christmas.....I love my Nativity set!

This is a really awful picture, but it's my little sister's village set.

Lastly, my older sister's Christmas tree....it's so pretty!

So, in my sister's and my bedroom, we have countless strands of lights, 3 Christmas trees, 3 Nativity scenes, 3 village sets, TONS of ornaments, paper snowflakes, and I'm sure there are other things that I can't remember!

Lastly, I made a hat for our etsy shop....I really love the way it came out! =)

It was a very easy pattern and worked up really quickly!

The pattern says it's a "beanie hat", it's worn kind of on the back of your head.

I hope everyone is having a great week, the first week of advent! =D I love this time of year!
Have a wonderful day!

Socks and Things

Hello!
I'm in really good shape as far as Christmas gifts go, I'm actually almost done, and it's not even Thanksgiving yet! Yay!

So, I decided that in between Christmas gifts I'd make some non-gift things. I started out by making a pair of wool mittens. I love this pattern, it's so simple!

This wool is SO soft, I absolutely loved working with it! =) These are for my sisters and my etsy shop.

I also whipped up a few "fancy" place markers...I love using them. =)

I could not believe how fast they were to make! I had no beading experience at all so I didn't realize how quick a place marker could be to make.

I think this is my favorite one! =) I love green....

I had a lot of fun making them, then when I finished, I couldn't wait to use them for a project!

I love the more earthy tones these beads are.

A cute little heart.... =)

I really like the shape of this green bead,  it's so different!

And, the little butterfly =)

Lastly, I was very excited to make another pair of socks! The yarn for these was so much to work with, it has sparkles going throughout it. =) This is my first pair of ankle socks, I really like wearing them. I'd like to make some knee highs some day as well!

You can't really see the sparkles in the picture, but they're there! =)

The edging on these used a  stitch I had never heard of before, it is a reverse single crochet, I really like the looks of it though, it adds a ridged sort of look.

You may be able to see the sparkles a little better in this picture. =)

Well...I think that is all for now! I hope you all  very happy Thanksgiving! There are so many things that we have to thank the Lord for! =)
Have a wonderful day!

I had to add this....we had such a beautiful sunset today! God's creation is just so amazingly beautiful!

First Dusting of the Season

 Hello!
This morning was wonderful! I woke up to a rain/snow mix that slowly turned to snow only. It was flurrying for a little while and we had a beautiful dusting all over the ground and trees, it was so exciting! The first dusting of the season always makes me really happy and I love to go for a walk to enjoy how pretty everything looks all dusted in the snow.

The holly berries look especially pretty, the vibrant red with a white and green is so beautiful!

Evergreens in the snow....SO beautiful!

I so enjoyed walking along the pretty snow covered path, it was chilly but it's worth being cold to enjoy the snow we got!

I love when we get flurries before all of the leaves have dropped, the way the autumn leaves look in the snow is amazing!

I can't wait until we have a "real" snow, I want this pretty path to be completely covered in at least a foot of snow! =)

Today was such a good crocheting day, with the little bit of snow on the ground it made the whole house feel cozy...it was so nice! I could have crocheted and drank coffee all day long. The little birdies were flying around and eating the from the feeder, just looking outside at them made me smile! They didn't let me get a picture of them though.

The snow didn't last a very long time, only a few hours, but it was better than nothing....to get anything before Thanksgiving is always nice!

The evergreens mixed with some red berries, (not edible, of course haha), were so fun to look at, I can't get over how pretty everything looks when it snows!

I've been doing good getting Christmas stuff crocheted up, and I finished making all the things for the swap I'm doing and got that sent out! I hope to post on that soon....I have a lot of things I'd like to post, but most will have to wait until AFTER Christmas! =) Have a great day!

Lots of Crocheting

Hello!
I can't believe it has already been nearly a month since my last post, October flew by! I've crocheted many things since last time I posted, my sisters and I have been working hard to get our Etsy shop filled up, and by doing so, we had two sales in the month of October, Praise the Lord! We're really praying that as Christmas approaches, the Lord will bless us with some more orders.  From now until Christmas I don't think I'll be blogging often, due to the fact that most of the things I'm making right now are Christmas gifts! =) I can post the non-gifts though....

Several months ago a friend of mine made a couple of the most ADORABLE tape measure covers for her retractable tape measures, and I finally decided I'd make few as well....I think they are some of the cutest little things ever! =)

Here's a little cake, it looks scrumptious doesn't it? By pushing on the cherry on top of the cake, the tape measure slips back in....I love playing with it, it's fun!

This is a chocolate chip cookie, these covers are so much fun to make and they go super quick!

You can do so many different variations, this is a cinnamon roll....you obviously don't have to do a food, but I really like the idea of my tape measure looking like food...specifically dessert! =)

I also made a couple of scissor fobs using size 10 crochet thread and seed beads, they went quick as well and I really love the looks of them!

This first one I made is my personal favorite, I love the color!

I love this color thread combined with the red colored beads, it looks old! =)

The aqua colored one is much brighter than the colors I generally use, so it was a nice change of pace! I really enjoyed making them!

I think my least favorite part of making these was putting the beads on them, although it adds so much to it...I used clear beads for this one, it adds a little sparkle to it.

'

Lastly, I crocheted a teddy bear....he's so cute, I love his little bow tie. At first when I started working on him I didn't think I was going to enjoy it...but after a couple of hours I had fun with him! His face is so sweet... it was my moms idea to give him some eyebrows....I'm so glad I did because it added a lot to his face!

I found this pattern in a book I have called "Cute and Easy Crochet" by Nicki Trench... This book has so many WONDERFUL ideas...I'll be making many more things that are in this book!

So this is SOME of what I did in October, not all of what I did, but, like I said, I've been working on Christmas stuff and upcoming birthday things.  I am doing a swap on Ravelry and also did some spinning on my drop spindle that I'd like to post about! Speaking of my drop spindle... I almost forgot to tell you....we recently were blessed with a spinning wheel...it needs some parts, but we'll them hopefully soon! =) Our pastor picked it up for us at a yard sale and I think paid about $9, which is CRAZY cheap! Praise God! We're all super excited and can't wait to get it up and running! =D Anyway... I hope to post again soon!
Have a wonderful day!

Socks and Cases

Hello!
I've been in a very big sock mood lately! I made a pair for our etsy shop and a pair for my moms birthday, both were a lot of fun! They are both slipper socks so they worked up super quick!

This is the pair I made for etsy, I absolutely love them and it was tempting to keep them, they're really warm! They way the stitches were worked was so different and I loved doing it! These socks were very addicting!

My favorite part in making these was the way the top of the leg was done, I think it's so cute and it was so much fun to do!

The slipper socks I made for Mom were a lot of fun too, I made them with Caron Simply Soft which was a lot of fun to work with because it is SO soft and has such a nice look to it! I hope to make another pair soon! After doing a few pairs of slipper socks I'm really wanting to made "regular" socks though! =)

I also made some cell phone cases for our shop, all of them were a blast! I loved working on them, even though they're all the same type of thing I didn't get bored because each have a different design.

I'm not sure which case I like the best, but I think all of them are kind of cute!

I LOVE the colors of the butterfly, I'm not generally a person who loves bright colors, but I like them if the background is black because it really sets the colors off!

I really enjoyed doing the lady bug, the spots were a lot of fun to do!

I've made a few other things along with the ones I wrote about today, but didn't want to write too long of a post, so I'm sticking with this for now! Have a great day!
